In 1700, the average human consumed about 4 pounds of sugar each year.

In 1800, the average human consumed 18 pounds of sugar each year.

In 1900 the average human consumed 90 pounds of sugar each year.

In 2009, the human consumed 150 pounds of sugar each year. 

Most of this sugar is in unnatural, man-made forms such as sucrose and high fructose corn syrup. Last month, the TV special 60 Minutes did s a special on how damaging too much consumption of sugar is to the body. It leads to: obesity,diabetes 2, juvenile diabetes elevated triglycerides, abnormal LDL:HDL cholesterol levels, induces cancer cell division and elevated arterial inflammatory risk factors.
